The Suzuki Method of acting is a dynamic group of exercises focusing on developing a performer’s physicality, awareness, intensity, focus and clarity of intention. Where-as many acting methods work in the realm of ‘ideas’, this method is manifested physically and opens up the potential of the human body.
The workshop is designed for performers who want to develop their physicality and gain a working understanding of the terms: moving from the ‘centre’, being ‘grounded’ in the space, and ‘mind-body’. The workshop will cover Suzuki’s basic exercises in some depth. Vocal work will be incorpoated into later parts of the course.
The workshop will be conducted in English.
Will Bligh is an experienced performer with the Suzuki method. He trained with Frank Theatre in Australia for four and half years and has done various tours around Australia. Will twice toured to Japan to perform at Tadashi Suzuki’s festivals (in Toga and Shizuoka) as well as trained with his actors. He returned to Japan to train with Ellen Lauren (from CITI) and has since trained with ZenZenZo in Brisbane. Also over the last few years, Will has been doing a one-man show, “A One Man Hamlet”.
